Bringing Rabies Vector Species
The Wildlife Center of Texas ONLY accepts injured, orphaned, sick, or oiled wildlife. We do NOT accept healthy adult animals that need to be relocated. Due to an advisory from the regulatory authorities at the Harris County Health Department, we may not accept certain rabies vector species* from all counties. If the animal is a Raccoon, Skunk, Bat, Fox, or Coyote, please call The Wildlife Center of Texas at 713-861-9453 to speak with staff in order to determine whether we are permitted to take these animals from your county.
*Rabies vector species include: raccoon, skunk, fox, coyote, and bats.
Do I have to make an appointment?
You do NOT have to call or make an appointment before bringing an injured, ill, or orphaned animal to the center unless it is a rabies vector species designated above. Please do not email us to ask questions about an animal you have found that needs help. Our email address and Facebook page are NOT checked every day. If you need help, call 713-861-9453 and our trained staff is available to answer all of your questions.
