2016 Annual Wildlife Holiday Benefit
As our state’s population continues to expand and green space is consumed by development, native wildlife is displaced. The Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center of Texas has the best expertise to handle this work, but we need the space to accommodate the high level of existing demand and respond quickly when natural or manmade emergencies occur. Unfortunately, our space is now too small for the volume of rescue work performed, let alone for any increase in volume. We are pleased to announce that construction has started on the Houston SPCA’s new, state-of-the-art campus, including expansion of the wildlife rehabilitation hospital, which will provide more space designed specifically for temporary housing and rehabilitation for all species of native wildlife. Due to this construction, we will not be hosting our annual Open House at our current facility.
We know how much everyone loves the Open House so, instead, we invite you to join us at the historic OKRA Bar on Sunday, December 11th, 2016 from 2pm-4pm. We will be sharing the exciting master plans for the new Houston SPCA campus, including expansion plans for The Wildlife Center of Texas. Come out for drinks, food, and a fun-filled night to help us raise much-needed funds to support our lifesaving programs. And, don’t worry, you will still have the opportunity to meet our Education Ambassador animals. Please bring a gift or donation to put under our wildlife holiday tree at the OKRA Bar. Items needed can be found on our amazon wish list HERE or supplies donations can be found HERE. We hope to see you there!
Remember, downtown parking is FREE on Sundays, but you can still plan your park with this interactive parking map.
